Bible Reading For the Day...

Genesis 16:1-18:19 -

Matthew 6:1-24-
Mat 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Mat 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Mat 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
Mat 6:23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great [is] that darkness!
Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

As modern Americans I can see no other scriptures that relate to us more than these... For our society is currently based on the opposition of these scriptures. I would encourage everyone to read A.E. Groves small book entitled "Christian Devotedness" and you can read it here

I would think it is vitally important to read and reread these scriptures and meditate on them. Searching out the Lord as to what the meaning for you, of these scriptures, are. What are riches, what does it mean to serve mammon (or money). And finally repenting for our serving of money.

The parable of the sower and the seeds from
at www.theblackmile.com.Luke 8:4 expounds on this teaching especially the seeds that are among the thorns and the cares of this world. It is amazing to think that the cares of this world can/will choke out the Lord to the point of non existant in our lives. Oh how this must be guarded!

Psalm 7:1-7-

Proverbs 2:1-5-
